    Assistant Director - Public Health - Community Health Services

    Yavapai County Community Health Services is seeking an experienced, mission-driven leader to serve as our next Assistant Director - Public Health. This key leadership role provides an exciting opportunity to help shape public health strategy, strengthen community partnerships, and support programs that improve the health and well-being of residents across the County.

    The ideal candidate is a collaborative, forward-thinking public health leader with strong operational expertise, a commitment to community service, and a proven ability to guide teams and programs effectively. A master’s degree in public health, health administration or related field is preferred, along with demonstrated experience in supervision, budget management and grant development.

    Major Duties, Responsibilities

    • Directly oversees the effective delivery of public health services for Yavapai County. Plans for, develops resources, implements, and evaluates public health services in response to identified community needs. Initiates changes that improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the Public Health Services Division. Coordinates programs within the Division to ensure the most efficient and effective use of resources.
    • Monitors community health indicators and works with area health partners to identify needs and address deficiencies.
    • Manages the CHS Accreditation process to maintain reporting requirements for Quality Improvement, Workforce Development, Strategic Planning, and other program efforts to meet and maintain Accreditation standards and goals.
    • Provides leadership to managers regarding preparation, monitoring, and management of the public health programs and their annual budgets.
    • Assures that all public health programs are compliant with local, state, and federal requirements and that all expenditures are compliant with the contract and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
    • Assists with grant writing.
    • Advocates for CHS and its needs by maintaining effective relationships and communication with the Arizona Department of Health Services, other funding organizations, public health organizations, political representatives, and community members; promotes public health programs throughout the county and state; as requested, represents Yavapai County CHS on select state committees and commissions.
    • Participates in department, community, and Arizona Department of Health Services meetings as needed.
    • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.


    Minimum Qualifications

    Education:
    Bachelor's Degree in Public Health, Nursing, Health Administration, or closely related field

    Experience:
    A minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in supervision, budgeting, grant writing, marketing, or management of multiple/ concurrent programs.

    An equivalent combination of directly related work experience may substitute for the degree requirement on a year-per-year basis.

    Additional Requirements:
    Must possess a valid Arizona driver's license.
    Must possess a current fingerprint clearance card Issued by the Arizona Department of Public Safety.
