Are you a seasoned local government executive who can lead a full-service municipal organization while navigating growth, infrastructure needs, and community expectations? If so, apply to be the City of Azle’s next City Manager. We’re looking for an exceptional, collaborative leader who is:

    • Experienced in Council–Manager governance
    • Financially astute with strong budgeting expertise
    • Approachable, visible, and community-focused

Azle, Texas is a welcoming and family-oriented community located approximately 14 miles northwest of Fort Worth. Azle’s motto, Community & Opportunity, reflects its commitment to thoughtful growth, fiscal responsibility, and high-quality public services. Residents enjoy Eagle Mountain Lake, an 18-hole disc golf course, four city parks across 86 acres, and the Cross Timbers Golf Course. Community events include Music in the Park, the Azle Sting Fling Festival, Follow the Flag (Fourth of July), and an annual Christmas Parade.

The City of Azle operates under a Council–Manager form of government. The City Council consists of a Mayor and six Council Members elected at-large. The Council appoints the City Manager, who serves as the chief administrative and executive officer.

The City Manager’s office oversees citywide operations and strategic leadership for all municipal services. Reporting directly to the Mayor and City Council, the City Manager is responsible for enforcing City ordinances, implementing Council policy, and directing the overall operation of the City. The ideal candidate is a seasoned local government professional with demonstrated success in executive municipal leadership. This individual will be visible in the community, approachable with staff and residents, and confident in advising elected officials while remaining politically neutral. The successful candidate will bring strong experience in budgeting, capital planning, and economic development, along with the ability to guide growth while preserving Azle’s character. A commitment to transparency, collaboration, and employee engagement is essential.

    Required qualifications include:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, or related field
    • Minimum 5 years of progressively responsible municipal leadership experience in a city of comparable size and complexity

    Preferred qualifications include:

    • Master’s degree in Public Administration or related field
    • Demonstrated experience in economic development and municipal finance
    • Experience as a City Manager or Assistant City Manager
    • Residency within the City limits

Competitive salary depending on qualifications and experience. Expected hiring range $205,000 - $235,000; DOE/DOQ
