Position DescriptionTexas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC) School of Nursing is dedicated to training knowledgeable, compassionate nurses and nurse practitioners to meet the critical nursing shortage in West Texas and across the nation. For 40 years, the School of Nursing has educated new nurses, strengthened the careers of experienced nurses, and prepared innovative nurses to become leaders in health care.
The Instructor/Assistant Professor - Traditional Undergraduate, supports the mission of TTUHSC School of Nursing through excellence in teaching, service, and scholarly engagement. This role supports the Graduate Program by delivering high quality instruction in didactic or clinical, laboratory, simulation lab, and online settings, while participating in curriculum planning, academic advising, and professional development. This position has a limited remote schedule.
Major/Essential Functions- Maintains academic standards as established by the school and the university.
- Teaches students in online, clinical, laboratory, and classroom settings.
- Assumes responsibility for and/or participates in the planning and organization of courses to which assigned.
- Provides academic advising/counseling to assigned students.
- Participates in the development, implementation, and evaluation of school, program, course, and student activities.
- Plans professional development activities for self, such as continuing education offerings, workshops, professional meetings, etc.
- Participates in the development of curriculum.
- Participates in program, school and university committees, and in other activities associated with professional status.
- Maintains membership in and participates in professional associations by serving on local/state committees of professional organizations.
- Incorporates new knowledge and techniques in online, clinical, classroom, and laboratory teaching.
- Participates in teaching activities according to Instructor rank.
- Displays a scholarly orientation to the assumption of the responsibilities of a university faculty member as defined in the Guidelines for Qualification of Faculty Appointment Rank.
- Performs other duties as required.
Occasional Duties
Required Qualifications- Master's of Science in Nursing from an accredited university.
- Current RN license in the State of Texas or have the ability to transfer your license to Texas.
- Two years of clinical experience.
