Position DescriptionThis position is responsible for the direction and supervision of Medical Billing Associates and the various aspects of maintenance of patient billing accounts. This position supervises patient registration, insurance follow-up and collection, financial screening of unfunded patients, responses to patient billing inquiries, collection of patient payments, posting of payments and rejections, and other related activities in the Regional Campus Business Office or department. Directly supervises Medical Billing Associates and Sr. Medical Billing Associates. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the TTUHSC policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; coaching and mentoring employees as needed; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Major/Essential Functions- Supervise team, give direction, oversee and monitor daily work of in-person billing and hybrid/remote work staff.
- Oversee claim edit processes, billing accuracy, and work queue management.
- Manage denial resolution and payer-related billing issues.
- Serve as liaison between staff, providers, and leadership regarding billing operations.
- Establish and update procedures and job aids.
- Maintains current knowledge of billing regulations, payer guidelines, and updates.
- Reviews and approves employee time records and leave requests.
- Oversees denial management and special projects.
- Participates in leadership meetings and supports operational initiatives.
Required QualificationsA minimum of a High school diploma or equivalent required, Five years of office experience. Bachelor's degree in business or related area preferred OR Three years' work experience in the Medical Billing Associate program.
