Under the direction of the Director of Parks & Recreation, the individual holding this seasonal position is responsible for supervising and/or participating in daily summer youth program activities with participants while providing a safe, engaging, and positive atmosphere. This position is seasonal and will work during the City’s summer youth program schedule. Work hours may vary based on program needs and may occasionally include additional hours with prior notice.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Has direct responsibility for participants while they are attending the summer youth program.
Assists with supervising, leading, and participating in games, crafts, recreational activities, field trips, and other summer program events.
Responsible for enforcing all program rules and safety procedures.
Maintains appropriate records and communicates effectively with children, parents, staff, and supervisors.
Helps create a positive, structured, and welcoming environment for youth participants.
Must drive a City vehicle, as assigned.
Education and/or Experience
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required. Previous work or volunteer experience working with youth, children’s programs, recreation programs, camps, or the general public is preferred.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Must be at least 18 years of age. Must possess a valid Class C Texas Driver’s License with a good driving record. First Aid and CPR certification is preferred or must be obtained within a timeframe established by the department.
