A Sr. Human Services Specialist job is available with the City of Fort Worth Neighborhood Services Department/Community Action Partners. This position is primarily based at the CAP office in Arlington and will require regular travel to City Hall and community centers.
The Neighborhood Services Department- Community Action Partners, helps Tarrant County residents achieve well-being and independence through opportunities that protect, empower, respect choice, and preserve dignity. The primary purpose is to conduct outreach intake events to determine applicant eligibility and to perform the implementation of human services programs.
Minimum Qualifications: - Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college in Psychology, Social Work, Sociology, Psychology or related field
- Four (4) years of experience in social services program setting
- Valid Texas Driver License
Preferred Qualifications: - Preference may be given to higher levels of education and certifications as related to the vacancy
- Experience with community outreach and partnership collaborations
- Bilingual English/Spanish
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
The Sr. Human Services Specialist job responsibilities include: - Ability to supervise a team of 3 or more based in various office locations
- Providing outreach social services including intakes and referrals; case management, event planning and follow-up
- Ability to learn various program guidelines and processes
- Communicating decisions, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures to clients or customers verbally and in writing
- Assists in training lower-level staff in administering the programs policies and procedures of the assigned program
- Assists supervisory and management staff with the establishment and revision of related policies and procedures; makes recommendations to increase efficiency and effectiveness of assigned programs and services; confers with supervisory staff to implement policies
- Ability to routinely demonstrate compassion and an ability to empathize with clients/customers who may be upset or angry
- Prioritizing and processing high volume of information and data daily
Working Conditions Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically require touching, talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, standing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, walking, repetitive motions, climbing, balancing, pushing, pulling and lifting.
Physical Demand Light Work - Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly having to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for the Sedentary Work category and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated Light Work.
